Ipoh- Xin Quan Fang (新泉芳), Patisserie BoutiQue

Some well-known local food in Ipoh are beansprout chicken, salted chicken and white coffee. Actually, curry mee is also one of the famous food that you must try if you're in Ipoh. Where to find the best curry mee? The locals will definitely tell you 'Xin Quan Fang' is the best place to hunt for curry mee. We're lucky enough to get a seat after waiting for few minutes as there're very limited seats inside the coffeeshop. I read from other blog that this coffeshop is always crowded even though they only sell curry mee. There's no other food served here. People usually wait up to 45 minutes to get their bowl of curry me if it's peak hours. For us, it took about 35 minutes for us to get seated and for the food to be served.

There's a funny incident here, I was busy taking photos and deleting photos after we got our seats and I thought we're waiting for our curry mee to be served. After quite some time, the aunty came to get our food order, only then I realized that we actually haven't placed order yet although we're already inside for 10++ minutes. In Xin Quan Fang, you have to wait for the uncle or aunty to get your order but not asking them to come to your table. When they're available, they will come and take order so all you've to do is 'wait'. Good food doesn't come easy haha.

The curry mee is very aromatic and it's served with sliced chicken meat, char siew and some beansprouts. The portion wasn't too big but it's ok to share among us because we already had our breakfast earlier.

After enjoying the satisfying curry mee, we went to Patisserie BoutiQue to have some desserts. I didn't expect to dine at a cafe since this a budget trip for me. Anyway, my friend from Ipoh strongly recommended the cakes here so I think I should just give it a try. It's full the time we reached. We left our contact number there and walked around the area while waiting for a call. They called us when there's available seats. We ordered Matcha Strawberry Cake, Winter Berries Lemon Cheesecake and Souffle Pancake. It's my first time trying a combination of matcha and strawberry. Commonly seen combination is matcha + red bean. Matcha and strawberry turned out quite good anyway. I had no clue what Souffle Pancake was at first becuse it wasn't in the display counter and I've never tried it. Souffle pancake was a fluffy cake with blue berries, a generous amount of cheddar cheese and a scoop of matcha ice-cream on top of it. I think they make different flavour Souffle Pancake everyday so you might have to check with the staff before ordering.
