Penang 3D2N Trip (Day 1)

As I mentioned earlier, I spent some time in Penang before heading back to my hometown, KK. I actually had this trip with Zi Ling, my roommates in Aimst University, whom was also my secondary school classmate. Since the flight ticket is RM200++ cheaper if we go back on Monday rather than going back on Sat and Sun so both of us think that it's better spending money on touring around Georgetown to explore more and gain experiences.

Our trip is actually 3D2N, we left Aimst and headed to Georgetown by taxi on Sat morning. It's around 10am when we arrived there. However, we can only check in at 2pm so we put our belongings at the place we stayed (Hutton Lodge) and went to walk around Georgetown and had our breakfast. We had our breakfast at Toh Soon Cafe (多春茶座). The cafe is quite crowded that we had to stand for quite long time to get a seat. It serves different kinds of toast like kaya, peanut butter, butter etc. We ordered a peanut butter toast and a butter kaya steamed bread, half boiled eggs and coffee. The texture of the bread is different since it's actually Hai Nan bread (海南面包). It was more chewy than all the other bread that I've ever tried.

Since Zi Ling has never been to the mural art before so we walked to the area to take some pics after having breakfast. The weather was too hot so we just visited the murals which are quite significant.
On our way to see the murals
After being exposed under the scorching sun for an hour ++ we rested at a pastry shop called Ming Xiang Tai (明香泰) which is quite famous for its different variety of pastries. We order a 'bamboo cane and water chestnut drinks' and a toufufah. The drinks was really tasty, it even had sugar cane in the bottle and it tasted just nice, not too sweet but not too diluted. We also tried the egg tart as well.

Xiang Ling, my secondary school classmate whom is currently studying in Penang decided to meet us during our stay in Penang. She came to Hutton Lodge then we visited a pet shop which is also at walking distance from the place we stayed. I saw some huskies there and some weird pets like spider, gecko, snake etc. We also went to first Avenue and did some window shopping. Xiang Ling had something to do at night so she left us at around 5pm.
Xiang Ling!! :D

Zi Ling and I went to Chew Jetty afterwards. It's actually our second time being there. The first time we went there was in semester 1 but it's raining that day so we had more fun exploring this time.

We then headed to Batu Feringgi by uber, I have heard that the starbucks there is well-known for its beautiful scenery but I've never been there before so I was actually quite excited to pay a visit. After arriving there, personally I think it's just like ordinary Starbucks but it's more beach styled haha, there's an indoor and an outdoor area, the indoor one is just Iike any other Starbucks that we usually go but the outdoor one is quite new to me but I wasn't that impressed tho. It's probably because beach is very common to me cuz I lived in Kota Kinabalu since I was born lol. We have beautiful beach there so beach is so common for me. We wanna catch the sunset but it's still early so we bought some drinks and sat at the outdoor area until it's almost the time for sunset. Around 7pm we walked to the beach to take some pics haha, there were many families at the beach and quite many of them were playing in the water so I would say it's a lil bit crowded. You can never find a spot to take pic with nobody at the back as your background lol.

There's some unforgettable experience that too in this trip. When we went back to Georgetown by rapid Penang, we're dropped off at a place which is at walking distance to Hutton Lodge (the place we stay) but then when we tried to walk there according to GPS, it didn't lead us to our destination tho. We're kinda freaked out because the alleys which we walked were very dark and seemed like nobody were around. Fortunately we finally back to Hutton Lodge safely after asking some passerby the direction.

We didn't actually have any proper dinner that night because we're so full after having Starbucks at Batu Feringgi. Around 10pm Zi Ling started to feel a lil bit hungry so we went to Ceylon Cafe which is just opposite to Hutton Lodge. It's a hello kitty themed cafe so the wall were painted pink and there's many hello kitty dolls displayed in the cafe. We stayed there for about an hour to use wifi until they wanna close the cafe because the wifi speed is much faster than that we had in Hutton Lodge HAHA.

Overall I think our trip today is satisfying cuz our time was well-spent.

Will update day 2 and day 3 soon :)
